The Opteka 6.5mm f/3.5 Fisheye Lens is an excellent addition to any photographer’s collection, giving users the ability to expand their creativity and capture incredible scenes from a truly unique perspective. The special fisheye design allows maximum creative expression.
This lens, when used with cameras with an APS-C image sensor, creates images with an expanded perspective, including images with a creatively deformed outlook and a sharp pan focus that extends throughout the entire frame. By offering a 180-degree angle of view, this fisheye lens can be used to create amazing image expressions that cannot be seen by the human eye, such as exaggerated perspective and distortion. The minimum shooting distance (just 12 inches) and large depth of field also provide amazing close-up shots.
Opteka’s super multi-layer lens coating reduces flare and ghosting, a common problem with digital cameras and also creates an optimum color balance.
f/Stop Range: 3.5-22

Customer Review: Opteka…The unknown fisheye gem of a lens
Since there are no true photos taken with this lens, I only wish I could down load a couple of my Autumn shots as well as my Pro shots of the rock group “SoFarr” here in Spokane to back up my claims. This lens is a sleeper, because of the price! When it came to my house, I placed it on my Pentax K10d and took some foliage shots on my street. The angle of acceptance isn’t exactly 180 degrees, but it makes a full frame photo on my 1.5 Pentax sensor. I took some photos of my house through a maple tree, and both the leaves that were only 24 inches away, as well as the house 70 feet away were needle sharp! Now mind you…This lens is totally manual in focus and aperture operation, with automatic stop-down aperture when the shutter is tripped. When Opteka said Aspheric, I was a bit suspicious, but when I took the photos of the Rock group, the true meaning of aspheric came through with shining colors! I layed the camera on the ground facing up, with the self timer set on 10 seconds, and had the group of four guys huddle like in football over the lens. I metered for shadow, adjusted the shutter, and set the focus on three feet, and aperture on F:8, and pressed the shutter. Everything from mid ankel to the leaves 20 feet above the guys was in focus, and they were so impressed, that they are putting this photo on the back of their next album cover! If you have any questions, about these photos, the base player Troy Sanders is assembling the photos on their web site. Be patient, as it might take a coupe days for their debut! The name of their group is “SoFarr”….They were astonished when they seen the clarity and creative angles that this lens provided them, with a little help from me! The lens has excellent saturation, and the depth of field is “Killer”. I had to force myself to focus the lens, as it was so wide, that seeing the lens focus was almost impossible, but with a little guesswork, a person can estimate the distance, and preset the focus manually, and still be in focus! You will have to own an ultra wide angle lens to understand. In this instance, close is good enough! And because of the 10mm corrected focal length, a person can shoot as slow as 1/10th of a second and get needle sharp shots. And with image stabilization on my Pentax’s body, I could take a 1/4 second shot with no problems! Too bad Nikon and Canon owners…No image stabilization on this lens…Buy a tripod! If you are a point and shoot kind of photographer, and have never shot a manual focus lens, this will take a bit of concentration on your part, just getting used to having to preset the focus, and set the aperture makes it fun to use. This lens when set at F:8 has a depth of field of inches to infinity, when focused at 1-3 feet. It is an F:3.5 lens, but I recommend you shoot at F:5.6 or F:8 to capture the maximum sharpness of this super piece of optics! I highly recommend it to any creative photographer looking for a good “Barreling” true fish-eye lens that lives up to it’s “Aspheric” calling card…It is no fluke! The box reads “Limited Edition”…If this lens sells good, I don’t doubt that the price may go up in the future….Sigma, Tamron, Pentax, Canon, Nikon all have a $600+ price tag on their fish-eye’s….Take a good Pop-Photo look! This might be the answer to your low cost optics with high return capabilities!
Customer Review: Lens great, Amazon … not so much
The lens is surprisingly good. Easy to focus, tends to shoot a bit underexposed. However, due to Amazon’s ludicrous handling of gift cards, I could not get the extra item (digital picture frame) because it wanted to use a gift certificate I’d been holding for my kids to pay for the frame via a credit and then use the credit to “pay” for the frame. Shipping was quick from 47th st. Kudos to them, but Amazon isn’t helping the merchant out with this screwball ordering process and it costs the product a star.
